TightPod Gets Paid for Their Name
A few weeks ago, I had written about how Apple was using their legal clout to scare small companies- who had no products resembling the iPod- to stay away from using the semi-word ‘pod’ in their names. I had mentioned a company called TightPod which manufactures laptop covers. They had received a legal notice from Apple requesting that they change their name.
Well, last week news came that Apple has paid TightPod an undisclosed amount of money for changing their name. The lady who runs the company said:
I know that sounds like I’m a sell-out, but I don’t have the resources to litigate a trademark case.
Hey, a little money and a lot of legal muscle goes a long way!

At least Apple paid her instead of the other way around.
Of course, they wouldn’t have done that if they didn’t think she had a fighting chance of winning a trademark case.
